Cathedral symphony orchestra

More than 30 yeas ago founded as the cathedral chamber orchestra, the cathedral symphony orchestra has become a body of the Domsingschule where laymen and semi-professional musicians make music. Besides the great symphonic works of Mendelssohn, Brahms etc. they always perform unknown works. Two or three concert programms are regularly worked out, in which musicians of the state orchestra train the different groups. The cathedral symphony orchestra represents the pool for the different instruments which play during the services, from Bach cantatas to symphonic Psalms. Here the co-operation with the cathedral choir is very important. Besides the weekly rehearsal an orchestra week-end is held as well as concert journeys in irregular intervals.
